What ELSE could CMS do with the $5,000,000 increase in Accountability?
March 27th, 2008The proposed 2008-09 CMS budget increases the Accountability operations budget by 87%, from $6.3 million to $11.8 million.
(positions based on $60,000 salary & benefits)
- Add 83 Social Worker positions, staffing all elementary and middle schools.
Or
- Ensure that each elementary school had a Full-time talent development teacher (56 additional teachers)
AND
- Add Social Workers to about 27 of our neediest schools
Or
- Significantly lower class sized at majority poverty and trending toward majority poverty Middle Schools
Add 2 teaching teams (6 teachers each) to school 80%+ FRL (48 teachers)
Add 1 teaching team (3 teachers each) to schools 40% + FRL (36 teachers)
Or
- Significantly increase (approximately $6,000 each) the pay for teachers at West Charlotte, Garinger, Waddell, and West Mecklenburg high schools.
